Borobudur The Largest Monument

Borobudur temple is the largest Buddhist monument in the world . Built during King Samaratungga from Wangsa dynasty in the year 824 . Borobudur was built 300 years before Angkor Wat in Cambodia and 400 years before the great cathedrals of Europe .

Borobudur is located in Magelang regency, Central Java, Indonesia. within 34 km from Yogyakarta, and 10 km from Muntilan.
The journey from the city of Yogyakarta can be done by bus, car or motorcycle through Muntilan

Borobudur has extensive 123x123 m² with 504 Buddha statues , stupas overlay 72 and 1 main stupa . This form beraksitektur Gupta temple that reflects the influence of India . After a visit here you will understand why Borobudur has an attraction for visitors and an icon of Indonesia's cultural heritage .

This temple .. as if a giant puzzle that is composed of 2 million blocks of volcanic stone , carved in such a way that interlock with one another .
International agencies of the UN that UNESCO recognize Borobudur once praised as one of the largest Buddhist monument in the world . In this temple there are 2672 relief panels which when compiled lined the length reaches 6 km . Ensemble relief is the most complete in the world and an unparalleled artistic value as well as every scene is a complete masterpiece .

Since the mid 9th century to the early 11th century , Borobudur Temple became a place of Buddhist pilgrims from China , India , Tibet , and Cambodia . Borobudur Temple became one of the most important historical traces in the development of human civilization . 
Architectural splendor and grandeur of Borobudur is a world treasure and priceless awesome. 

Borobudur consists of 1460 relief panels and 504 stupas . However , panels that are seen apparently not complete because there are 160 panels were intentionally dumped because relief is considered vulgar and obscene . The panels located at the very bottom , contains scenes Karmawibhangga Sutra ( causation ) . There is also a state that hoarding is to strengthen the lower part of the foundation found that since the beginning has been severely damaged.

• Rent an official tour guide, so you'll get better information.

• During the summer, you should wear a hat or umbrella hired about IDR 2,000, 00

• If not familiar with the condition and location of the vicinities better ride motorcycles only.

• You can rent a bike or motor bike at Borobudur because it will simplify and expand the space. You can drive around to places as far away as Hill Punthuk Setumbu or Suroloyo Peak.

ACCOMMODATION                             Because of Borobudur is only one hour drive from Yogyakarta, many visitors choose to stay here, where there are a variety of modest hotels and five-star hotels.                                                                                             For visitors who want to stay close to Borobudur temple then there are other accommodation options. The hotel is located only 3 km to the south of Borobudur.

Alternatively there is the hotel which is perched on a beautiful plateau near Magelang. Hotels in Magelang, about 20 miles north of Candi Borobudur.
